“You don't charge a hill without recon. I don't buy a building without it.”
“We probably have to look at a hundred deals to get somewhere between two and five that work.”
“Whenever you invest with us, we'll treat your money just like our money. There's no project we're going to do that we don't have some money in.”
“We came in at the ground level. We both had on hard hats, hammers in our hands, building houses.”
“That first home wasn't just a property. It was the beginning of the vision.”
“You look around and the community you put that asset in is thriving. People are working. You have coffee shops, hospitality, retail, apartment buildings. You've built a little ecosystem.”
“We're in the foxhole with you.”
Five angles the founders speak to with authority, firsthand detail and approved quotes:
Two Army veterans met in uniform, built their first homes in Hawaii with their own hands, tore out bathrooms and sheetrock themselves, and grew that start into a private real estate firm. "You don't charge a hill without recon," Byron says. "I don't buy a building without it."
In Northeast Louisiana, where most developers walked past the market, L5 pre-qualified buyers before breaking ground and partnered with local lenders on closing-cost assistance and workforce mortgage programs. Families moved in. "You've built a little ecosystem," Melynda says.
L5 hosts free, invitation-only Legacy of Service events around Veterans Day, often co-hosted with veteran organizations and professional partners, focused on how veterans and military families can build lasting wealth.
Faith, family and a clean division of labor: she finds the deal, he makes sure it closes. "We're the Priscilla and the Aquila of real estate," Melynda says.
Why two veterans review about 100 deals to choose two to five, and put their own money in before anyone else's.
