You Served With Discipline. Your Wealth Deserves the Same.
You spent a career trusting the people beside you. Now everyone with a pitch wants that trust. L5 Legacy Capital was built by two people who earned it in uniform: U.S. Army veterans Byron Kizzie and Dr. Melynda Kizzie, investing in Texas and Louisiana real estate from Frisco, Texas. Our money goes in first. You get paid first.

You trusted the people beside you. Who do you trust with your money now?
Trust the people who take the same risk you do and answer to you when it matters. That was the standard in uniform. We built L5 on it.
In the Army, you knew who had your back, because you'd watched them under pressure. Out here, it's a world of salespeople. The fund manager you'll never meet. The advisor paid on commission. The "opportunity" that lands in your inbox the week after your retirement ceremony.
You've done everything right. Good income. Maybe a pension. A career built on trust and discipline. But a salary and a pension aren't a legacy. Your savings ride on markets you don't control, in products you can't see inside, and you've watched good people lose what they saved to someone who never had a dollar of their own at risk.
"You don't charge a hill without recon. I don't buy a building without it."
Your money shouldn't move without recon either.
Who founded L5 Legacy Capital?
Two U.S. Army veterans: Byron Kizzie, Managing Partner, and Dr. Melynda Kizzie, Co-Founder. They're husband and wife, and they met while serving in the U.S. Army.
Byron Kizzie
Managing Partner & Underwriting Lead
Byron is a 20-year U.S. Army veteran and a corporate leader in the defense sector, with 15-plus years in real estate development and private equity. He has overseen more than $6 million in property acquisitions and delivered residential communities exceeding $4 million and commercial and hospitality projects exceeding $5 million.
Dr. Melynda Kizzie
Co-Founder & Sourcing Lead
Melynda is a U.S. Army veteran with an MBA and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership. She leads the front end of L5: finding and screening the deals worth your capital.
Built through a full market cycle, from the 2006 boom through the 2008 downturn, and formally formed L5 Legacy Capital in 2026. For you, that means two operators with real scars and real results, both accountable to you.
What makes a veteran-led real estate firm different?
The habits: recon before every move, our own money at risk before yours, no one left behind. With your capital, that means:
Our money goes in first
We put our own capital into the fund before we bring in investors, so we never ask you to take a risk we won't take.
You get paid first
Limited partners receive a preferred return and are paid before we, the general partners, share in profits. It's in the fund's offering documents. We win after you do, not before.
We do the recon
We review about 100 deals to find the two to five that work, so the deal in front of you has already survived 95 no's.
Exit planned before buy
You know how we intend to leave a property before your capital goes in. No guesswork on timelines or hold periods.
Direct founder line
Your first investor conversation is with Byron himself. No call centers. No gatekeepers.
1.5x Equity Multiple
Our $2.25M Northeast Louisiana workforce housing project pre-qualified buyers before breaking ground and returned $1.50 back for every $1.00 invested in under 15 months.

Why do we call it Legacy of Service?
Because service didn't end when the uniform came off. It changed form.
We're a military family. Service, faith and family have shaped every decision since we met in the Army. We started with hard hats on and hammers in our hands, building our first homes ourselves. Today we build housing for working families, revitalize properties others overlook, and help fellow veterans and their spouses build wealth with their eyes open.
That's the legacy we're after: families who are stronger for having invested, and communities that are stronger for what we built in them.
Why start around Veterans Day?
Because it's the one day each year the whole country stops to honor your service, and a good day to plan what that service builds next. Around Veterans Day, we host Legacy of Service events: free, invitation-only and often co-hosted with veteran organizations and professional partners. Invitations go first to the people who ask.
You don't need to wait for November. Every year your savings sit idle is a year of growth you don't get back. The Veteran's Guide is free today.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who founded L5 Legacy Capital?
Two U.S. Army veterans founded L5 Legacy Capital in 2026: Byron Kizzie, Managing Partner, a 20-year Army veteran, and Dr. Melynda Kizzie, Co-Founder. Meet the founders.
Do I have to be a veteran to invest with L5?
No. L5 welcomes every verified accredited investor. Legacy of Service is our story and our commitment to the veteran community, not a requirement. Every investor gets the same standard: our money in first, investors paid first.
Isn't "veteran-led" just a marketing angle?
Judge us by what we do, not what we call ourselves. Our money goes in first, investors are paid before we share in profits, and the Veteran's Guide teaches you to vet any sponsor. Use it on us first.
Can my spouse join the conversation?
Yes, and we encourage it. We built L5 as a married couple, and we expect you to decide together. Bring your spouse, or your CPA, to the conversation with Byron.
Does L5 work with veteran organizations?
Yes. Byron and Melynda speak without a fee for veteran groups and nonprofits and co-host free education sessions with veteran organizations. Invite them to speak.
